The Last One

Today was spent working on the trolley poles, again. The third one was finished and installed, and we nearly finished the last one. Rod Turner spent much of the day doing the expert torch work.

First, we drilled the hole and installed the rivet for pole #3. Then I installed the various parts to make it complete. The finished product is shown here. I then installed it on the 308. This car now has both trolley poles renewed and should be ready for service.

I then removed the remaining pole from the 309, helped by Mike Stauber. The old trolley casting was removed, and after some filing and adjustments, the new casting was installed. I wish I could show you a picture of what it looks like when the casting is red hot, but we're always too busy to take pictures. You have to be there.

REVENUE SERVICE

The blue cars will be used in regular service this year, so that means two things need to be done first: inspection and cleaning. My views on inspection still stand. Read and heed. As an alternative, you could help out with car cleaning. This is always greatly appreciated!
