The Fox River collection has a good number of photos of cars in operation during the last year or two, plus a variety of pictures along the line, taken just before abandonment on March 31, 1935. Ed Frank took many of the pictures, including the ones taken on the last day. Several views are not labeled.

I think I may have located the "Not labeled -- I'm going to guess Stop 56
ReplyDeleteBridge St., South Elgin". It looks very very similar to a building on corner of route 31 and W State Street in North Aurora that was torn down sometime between 2013 and 2015. So the car would be headed south to Aurora

You can just barely make out the Station building just south of state street and the big brick building to the north of state street in this old aerial photo.

Thanks, that's excellent! I believe you're right, and I certainly remember that school building on the corner. Of course 31 wasn't nearly so wide back in those days. I'll make the change.
