Bondo and Sandpaper

The long effort to justify changing the 205's primary construction material in the IRM roster from "steel" to "Bondo" continued apace today, with a number of spots on the car side receiving an application followed by the using up of copious amounts of 150-grit sandpaper. By the end of the day several additional sections of the car had been primed including more of the belt rail as well as the letterboard over both doorways. I also removed the motorman's end window from the east end of the car. Over in the shop, the new door leaves received a third and final coat of varnish and some mahogany was procured for making "window sticks," the small beveled strips that will hold the glass in place on the doors.
