It's getting towards the end of the operating season, so traffic is falling off. The two-car North Shore train (714 and 749) was the only mainline operation. But it was a beautiful autumn day, and we had a moderately good crowd. Everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Joel and I certainly did.
There were a lot of families, a few groups of railfans, and so on. It's a nice break from pipe wrenches and sandpaper. Several people wanted pictures of their children with the conductor, and then I'd take pictures of the whole family together for them.
Our friend Tim Lesniak was visiting from the Connecticut Trolley Museum at Warehouse Point. I showed him through a couple of the CA&E cars, then turned him over to other Car Dept. people. Here we see Tim and Christine in front of the train. They spent all day there and were suitably impressed.
At one point, there was some concern that the 749 needed more grease. So Joe and Gwyn Stupar heeded the call and came down to the depot to check it out. After a little TLC, everything was fine. Thanks!
Let's face it -- your life is dull. Your friends are a bore, there's nothing on TV, you're sitting there staring at a computer... you need some excitement in your life! Be sure to make plans now to visit Terror on the Railroad! If that doesn't scare your socks off, nothing will!

Will the North Shore train hold down the schedule until the end of October? Or will smaller cars like 415 take over toward the end of the month? I'm thinking of coming up during my fall break, and personally, the operation of the North Shore cars compared to smaller equipment would make or break the trip for me.
