This year's Steam Department Benefit at the Sanfilippo Estate was as good as ever. Dave Calendine always comes up with new music to play, and does an amazing job of putting together a medley of the requests that are submitted during the intermission. That's quite a feat! And this year he played the background for a Laurel and Hardy short, "Liberty", that had us on the edge of our seats the whole time. They're doing all these stunts on top of a skyscraper under construction, and how they managed not to kill themselves is beyond me.
There are always items on display in the house that I hadn't noticed before, such as this toy valve gear display, and some miniature functional stationary steam engines.
And Frank has recently taken up cylinder record players as a hobby, so I took many pictures of the ones on display. And of course the carousel was running, and so forth, so a good time was had by all!
Oh, and for the first time they were able to raffle off a cab ride in the 1630. If you missed it, you may just have to wait until next year. Don't let that happen again!
