CCW 300 Video
As reported on RyPN, an excellent color movie of fan trips on the Charles City Western including our #300 in action has been recently posted here. It's all good, but the 300 segment is from about 4:05 to 7:15. Enjoy.
I've seen some pretty bad track at other museums, but nothing like that. I'm not sure what could have caused a groink that bad, was it just heat expansion?
It's interesting to note that the three pieces of CCW equipment highlighted are all still with us. The combine, number 50 is at Boone. The former Texas Electric locomotive is still owned by the Iowa Traction, which purchased the CCW and operated it as a separate division for a while. Of course the 300 is at IRM.
That track starting around 5:15 or so.. Ugh.... And they went over that? After moving the pole. Wow.
