New Rails on Main Line

Bob Olson sends us this report on improvements being made this week to the main line by the contractor:

Volkmann Railroad Builders is changing out 4000 feet of rail (2000 track feet) on the mainline this week. The location is between Signal 202 and Signal 252.  Rail released from the project will be used to complete yard 15 and supply material for construction  of other storage tracks on the property.

    What weight of rail was replaced? What weight of rail was installed? Why the change?
