Whatever the weather, there's never a dull day at IRM, although some are quieter than others. Take your pick.
Tuesday happened to be the best choice for me this week, and several things got done. I installed the newly-painted wooden blocks on the #2 end of the 451, as seen here.
Then, with some body and fender work, the metal step treads were attached. Gerry will examine this when he gets a chance and decide what needs to be done next, if anything.
Then I spent some time cleaning and straightening inside the car, and ran the heaters in the main compartment for while. The heat works fine, although it would take a while to heat the car up. That's why in regular service the heat was always left on when the cars were stored in the yard. And I checked out the window shades and repositioned several of them.
Then it was time to install some more hardware parts on the new side doors, as seen here.
At least three other projects were being worked on. Pete Galayda continues refinishing the interior of the 160, and it looks great.
John Sheldon is making good progress on the 306. He showed me a picture of the floor of the Fox River cars as built, and samples of the wood moldings they plan to use to replace it. This project is very challenging, and John is working hard to make it a success.
And you will not be surprised to learn that Tim continued working on the 1754, installing the newly-made moldings on the rebuilt seat frames for the bowling-alley sections.
