Doodlebug Progress

Gregg Wolfersheim continues to work on the UP doodlebug, and sends us another update:

A few more windows were removed from the smoker section of M35. The slide channel and sill are now exposed and will be sanded, primed, and painted.

Near the bottom of each slide is rotten wood which has been removed. A new piece will be fitted in. Also, some of the screw holes in the posts have broken machine screws, so they will have to be drilled out and rethreaded.

Almost all of the trim is salvageable. Here they have just been primed.

All of the seats and their bases were removed on this side of the car. It makes it easier to work around the window area. The far two windows still have the original wall panels in place. Soon they will come off to rehab those areas. The partition wall has had all of the paint removed since the last report. But the varnish needs to be removed before painting.
