My Rail & Wire came in the mail today; it has a great illustrated article on the restoration of the Villa Real. The owner restored steel, replaced missing hardware and lights, and even restored the wood grain parts of the car!
Mr. Sauer not only did a tremendous job of restoration, he also did the historical research and documented the entire process carefully. That's a model of how restoration ought to be done. And his donation of the finished car to IRM ensures that it will have a permanent home and be preserved in its current condition. All of us at the Museum owe him a great deal of thanks and appreciation.
Thanks for some more great pictures from Ditcot!
