Resuming Roof Renewal

I haven't been posting much lately, mostly because we were out of town on vacation to visit grandchildren, but also because it's been too cold to do any more canvas painting.  Tuesday, at least, it was eventually warm enough for some caulking, but still no painting.

Tim is making hundreds of new window frames for the 1808, and he is busily turning out the pieces on the big mortising machine.

But it's much better to see it in action:

Meanwhile, Gregg was painting some parts for the line car in the Lean-3:

And outside, the B&G crew were getting things ready for HHR.  You can just barely see Dave and Jerry setting up barriers to warn people away from the danger zone, where the sewer system is being expanded.  And in the distance is the Santa train, now bigger and better than ever!

Acting on a suggestion by Tim, I have decided to use lag screws to install the saddles and trolley boards on the 460, so there was some more drilling to do.

And after some work, the first six saddles are now in place.  The first two have been caulked.

And with luck, we'll have some more progress to report soon.
