NWERR 754
Bill Wulfert forwarded along this photo taken by Tim Peters. It depicts a bit of history: when Tim was stripping paint off of the bulkhead of Chicago "L" car 1754, he came across its original number on the bulkhead in gold leaf. This car was built by Jewett in 1906 as North Western Elevated Railroad 754; as built it would have been painted Pullman green and would have generally matched the current post-restoration appearance of NWERR 24. Car 1754 was heavily rebuilt in the early 1920s, however, and gained new motors and controls along with other changes. So it's being restored by Tim to its appearance right after its rebuild, when it wore Chicago Elevated Railways green and orange.
