This is probably an impossible question to answer at this point......but is there a general timeline for the Main Street Scene? Donations will drive it like all projects, but are we talking something like 5 years down the road before it's more or less complete? Or more like 10+ years down the road?
There's no set timeline, but the Main Street Scene as a whole is a huge project and is unlikely to be "complete" for many years. The Entrance Building is the current focus and it's conceivable that it could be built in the next 3-5 years but that depends entirely on the availability of funding.
But I assume that the gas station would be significantly less costly to renovate and install...would that be in the cards to be installed first?
Are the CNW/MILW archives and the model railroad going to be standalone buildings, or will they be part of the entrance building?
That's a good question about the gas station; I'm not sure what the status of that is at the moment. You're right that it would be much less costly to install but there's also less benefit, I suppose, as it's basically just an attractive background piece. As for the MILW archives and model railroad, they are supposed to be in a joint building separate from the Entrance Building. I think the archive/model building is to be on the south side of Main Street on the west side of the Schroeder Store. Last I heard, bids were being requested from vendors for construction of the joint building, so that structure may be constructed within the next year or two.
