Urban Development

The building boom continues, as the frame of the Multi-Purpose Building™ is being assembled by the contractors.  They weren't working on Saturday, but watch this space as construction continues.  The hopes and dreams of many years are finally starting to come true.

Our next Car Dept. project will be to complete the roof on the 451.  I went up there today and spread a final coat of black paint down the middle of the roof, where the saddles will go.  The car will be moving over to Barn 4 soon, where it will be easier to work on the sides and ends.

Then I spent some time drilling holes in the saddles, using one of the old saddles as a guide.

This is a two-step process, as the screws are countersunk into the wood.    Now we just have to figure out where to put them.

Buzz was painting new siding for the insulated boxcar...

and Tim is making all new windows for the 1754...

and Eric and Ed were working all day on the PCC truck.

Meanwhile, outside revenue service was is full swing.   Some of the usual pieces:

As well as the West Towns car, which was in regular service for much of the day.  That's quite an accomplishment!
