The latest on CTA 9631

Thanks to Richard Schauer for sending along the latest update on our CTA trolley bus repainting project:

Lest you think poor ol' 9631 has been forgotten, I send you this brief update.  A small amount of sanding work has been completed this week on the upper curb side, behind the rear doors; see the attached picture.

This is the first work in about a month.  The shop ran out of welding gas one day and while waiting for the delivery, had a little time to work on it.

So as to address the elephant in the room, yes, it's taking substantially longer than expected.  Any sort of timeline has been discarded.  I spoke to the owner this week and to the foreman last week.  The large number of trucks coming to their shop were a bit of a surprise when they started, but they have talked to other shops in the same line of business and all are exceptionally busy.  The shop has a corporate contract with a large truck leasing company, which covers two distinct types of work: clean-up and refurbishment of trucks at the end of their leases and accident repair.  Both are at full tilt right now.
