Last Saturday my fiancee Bevin and I took a nighttime trip out to Union for the Terror on the Railroad event, as we have the past couple of years. As always it was frightfully good! Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures, but they probably wouldn't have turned out very well anyway - most of the haunting is done in darkened train cars. Green Bay & Western 109, Milwaukee Road 2050, Illinois Central 3996 and Union Pacific 501 made up the Train of Chills, the stationary haunted train, while Phil Stepek's train of stainless steel cars made up the Screamliner, which was the moving haunted train. A new addition to the latter was Chicago & North Western 9933, the museum's only RDC, which has been a recent focus of Phil's work and worked as the cab car for the Screamliner. Both of the haunted trains were quite well assembled and crewed with an impressive number of convincing actors; kudos to the staff for all the work that went into the project! The event seemed to be pretty well attended on the night we were there.
This is definitely a "general interest" event at the museum, so be sure to tell all those people you know who aren't into trains about Terror on the Railroad. It's a good way to get them out to IRM and hey, maybe they'll want to come back for one of our less fear-inducing events. It's a fun time and is highly recommended!

Be sure to dress warmly!
Also, I'm pretty sure picture taking is officially prohibited. Flash pictures of the actors would be temporarily blinding and thus a safety hazard, among other things. You just have to be there in person!
