Chuck Amstein really is a glutton for punishment; either that or he particularly enjoys 90-degree days. But either way he was back out at IRM for the Fourth of July, and we're very grateful for it because he has sent along another series of photos documenting the goings-on. Enjoy!
More prep work on the 1630...
It's nice to see the 160 in use again. At the moment it's our only North Shore car cleared for regular service pending some repairs to the 251, 714, and 749 which are already in progress.
Linda Evans was conductor on the "Green Hornet."
Our "new" Rock Island Geep peeks out of Barn 2. You won't want to miss seeing this thing in service once it is unveiled next weekend.

Pete Galayda, on the ground, headed up the restoration of this locomotive and did the vast majority of the work himself. Gregg Wolfersheim is up the cab running.
If the 300 is our new steeplecab then ComEd 4 is most definitely our old (albeit reliable as ever) steeplecab.
The caboose train is always popular. We would run it more often but for the personnel requirements; without the ability to pass between cars, each caboose needs its own car host, making it tough to round up enough volunteers to adequately staff the train.
And our reliable old wooden 'L' cars were in service as well.
