Luckily, I have friends who can usually provide pictures of anything I missed -- in this case, Bus Day!
The 972 has structural problems which need to be fixed before it can be used in regular service again, but if you don't go very far very fast, it's OK.
Thus, here we can have the best of old Milwaukee transit on display:

It's amazing to see all this bus action, and the restoration of the Milwaukee Marmon next to the 972. Did Milwaukee 269 run to that display location or was it towed? BTW the restored wooden rapid transit is really nice to see. I hope to visit longer on my next trip. And see a Milwaukee interurban out sometime, maybe for this day!
269 was stung out of the Hoffman Garage and driven to its display position. Then at the end of the day, I drove it back and stung it back into the garage.

Love the picture of 978 and 411.
It's very heartening and, in some ways, mildly surprising to me to see all the interest in buses at IRM. I know that we have a quite good collection that, if taken in isolation, would make a fine bus museum, but here it's a well-developed auxiliary to IRM's world-class core rail equipment collection. We'll keep on doing what we're doing in the bus departments, always seeking to improve, always keeping our focus on what's best for the Museum.
