Central City, Colorado is an old mining town high in the mountains above Denver; its current industry is casinos, of which there must be at least two dozen. One of them has this narrow gauge 2-8-0 from the Colorado & Southern plinthed in front. The locomotive seems to be complete and well cared for. Behind it is a combine which also appears to be in very good condition; I was unable to find out anything about it. When we get home, there will be lots more pictures of this and other items of interest. You can bet on it!

Another reason to read the blog -- vocabulary building. I had to get out the dictionary for "plinth" although the past tense was not there.

Central City, CO is an awful long way to go just to play the nickel slots....
Before the "slots" altered the area forever, the 71 was restored and operating.I had the opportunity to ride and be an engineer briefly.
The C&S was narrow gauge at its best.
