Pictures of the Move

Frank Devries sends us these photos taken last week during the removal of the baggage cars from the station storage tracks.  Most of them are self-explanatory, we hope.

The curves were extremely tight on the south track, enough to bind the trucks up against the center sills. We had to use the loader to laterally pull the truck frames to keep the flanges from climbing off the rail. Lots of grease, liberally applied, helped.

What's going to become of the flatcar body that served as the gift shop platform?

The flatcar body had previously been damaged in a wreck and is not worth saving, so it will be cut up in place and carted out in pieces.

And as for the rails, that's what you see in the second picture: Bob himself applying lots of grease.

Randall,
Has a decision been made about the fate of the two baggage cars?

Are they going to be saved or scrapped?
