All joking aside, Gregg Wolfersheim continues to make impressive progress on the UP doodlebug.
A few more things for the M-35 project. The fresh water tank was set into the window opening by the heater room to get it into the car. It's 5 feet long and about a foot in diameter. It is mounted up on the wall next to the Men's bathroom, but in the heater/cooling tank area.
Fresh water tank installed over the cooling water tank. It took a couple of days to get it in place with all the supports and brackets that are needed. Also several pipe connections, which were difficult to get together.
A view from outside of the car of the flue pipe after it was placed onto the Peter Smith heater. Beyond the flue you can see the expansion tank that went in earlier. To the right is the end of the water tank with a line and valve that can be opened to add water to the heating system if necessary.
From above we have a view of the flue pipe and expansion tank protruding through the ceiling panel. The safety valve has been applied to the top of the expansion tank, too.
From the engine room we see the fresh water tank up close to the ceiling, with the cooling water tank next to it. The refurbished fuse/torpedo box has been mounted too.
A better view of the fuse/torpedo box.

All these photos detailing the re-assembly of the heating system makes me wonder, will it be restored as a complete, static display, or to be actually be made operational and used on occasion. Either way, it is great to see such a professional restoration project be undertaken by a volunteer organization, so a big thank you to Gregg! There can't be too many of these Peter Smith systems in existence.
