Highlights of 2022

After some delay due to the pandemic, it's time once again to celebrate as we review the accomplishments of 2022.  As always, additions and corrections are welcome!

• Acquisitions:

5. The Electric Traction Speed Trophy!

• In building news, the structure and exterior of the C&NW building are now complete, and work on the interior is continuing.
• Operation of both the Decapod and the Shay several times this year.
• Special days such as Pumpkin, Thomas, Vintage Transport, and Happy Holiday all went well, with Pumpkin and HHR both setting all-time attendance records for those events.
• Lots of track work, including the replacement of about a mile of main-line rail.
• IRM hosted some important private events, such as the 100th anniversary of EMD and a visit from AAPRCO, the private car owners' group.
• And as usual, operations proceeded smoothly and safely during the year, thanks to our operating department.
• I can't begin to list all the restoration projects that were either completed or made significant progress this year.  
• Hicks Car Works set a new record for number of posts this year, mostly due to Frank's just-concluded series of Scalzo articles on electric lines of Illinois, the Doerr photo collection, and our pre-2008 logs. 
• Perhaps most importantly, we have several new active volunteers.  We are certainly grateful for their help, and hope they will stay with us for a long time!
