Simms Collection -- Yet More CSL

More Chicago Surface Lines photos from Al Simms.

As before, reader comments are in italics.

#1       Argo, Mar. 1934
C&J and CSL 5508
Karl Pearson

      #2         5-26-40
South Chicago & Keefe

#3
25th and Laramie

#4         Halsted & Congress
1940

#5       State & Randolph

The next group need to be viewed through rose-colored glasses, or something.  They are all Kodacolor prints, with processing dates in 1949 and 1950.  None of them have any notes.  I don't have the tools or the talent to fix the color, unlike at least one of my competitors, so WYSIWYG.

This last one is not CSL, of course; it's a couple of Met cars at the Forest Park diamonds:

#3 is at 25th st. and Laramie in Cicero. The Walgreens building is still there. The 25th st. Department Store next to it helped identify this location. #7 is a view across the Wabash bridge from the State st. bridge, looking toward the Wrigley Bldg. #8 is 4323 W. North Ave. The Grand Lounge building is still there.

Thanks, Dave, that's great.

Dave must know the city like the back of his hand. Or maybe he just doesn't have enough to do.... :)

"One of your competitors" has not made any blog posts since January 2026. He only posts when he needs to beg for money. So you have that to your advantage.

Perhaps. But I would still beg people to contribute money to IRM, and particularly to the Visitor Center project!
