Postcard from Cleveland

Having a wonderful time, wish you were here!

I just arrived in North Olmsted; we'll meet for supper tonight and start work at Brookpark Shops tomorrow morning at 7 am.

Yes, this is the same postcard I sent you last time. They cost less if I buy them in bulk.

As before, I won't be able to download any actual pictures from Cleveland until I get home tomorrow night. So a more thorough trip report will have to wait until then. And I'll also have an update on Whitey's Diner in Fremont. After 30 years, it's still in business and little changed.

Let's see, who all is here? There's Stan and Krystine, Julie, Jon F., Norman, Frank S., Mike, Joe, Charlie, Warren, and Laura, a friend of Julie's. Marcus Reuf is supposed to be arriving about noon on Saturday. And me. That ought to be enough.

Today the Fox River Trolley Museum was at Brookpark prepping CA&E 458 for its pending highway journey. Switching cars around created new photo opportunities. Once the roof work was completed, 458 was first shifted to the west end of the pit so the poles and other roof appliances could be loaded into the car. Then it was coupled again to 460, 451, 409, and 303. This 5 car train ran through the shop to position 458 outside east of the shop. This was so 451 could be positioned for the removal of its poles, etc. 409 has already had her roof items removed by the time I came upon the scene. Todays photos have been added to the CA&E on Cleveland RTA folder at the yahoo group "The Great Third Rail", http://groups.yahoo.com/group/thegreatthirdrail/.
