Many thanks to Richard Schauer for sending along photos of the work being done on CTA 9631, one of our two Marmon-Herrington trolley buses from Chicago. A supporter has donated the money needed to send this trolley bus to a commercial vehicle body shop in Elgin and have it repainted. As part of this work they're also repairing the body as necessary. It's really a great, nearly turn-key deal, and we appreciate the donor's support very much. If you have a favorite bus or trolley bus you'd like to see in fresh paint, and you have some extra scratch lying around, drop us a line...
Anyway, Richard writes: "The street side is now basically done, and the front end is well along. There was a large gouge in the front end panel over the "96" of the bus number, right where the CTA's Bondo fix was visibly failing. They welded in a piece of metal to fix that one."
