Many thanks to Richard Schauer for sending along another progress report on our CTA trolley bus 9631, out for repainting at a contractor in Elgin.
A small update this week. All of the heavy work has been finished on the upper curb-side corner, and all that's left is to sand down the surfacing coat there. Some work was also done on the lower rear street-side corner, as you'll see in the photos.
I asked how the work was going as compared to the estimate, in general terms. The owner said that it was largely on par, and that nothing unexpected had been found that would cost extra time. What he didn't expect was how busy the shop would have become, leaving less time to work on 9631. So, no paint match samples yet, and the mid-December completion appears to have been pushed back a bit more. But it's coming along!
