Did you notice what nearly all the items in Frank's Sunday News had in common? If you answered "paint" that's correct! So let's keep going....
The first thing I did on Monday was to bring two rebuilt windows for the 18 from home and paint the exterior with the dark cream. As seen here, they look quite good.
The two windows that were painted last time were taken to the car and installed. This freed up a 318 substitute window, which can go back into storage, and an 18 window for rebuilding and cleaning.
But my chief project for today was the Jewell Road shelter. Winter will be here soon, and it was raining almost every day last week, so I'm behind schedule. But over the weekend I picked out two finish colors for the final CA&E paint scheme, and I think they look just about right.
Red almost never covers very well, so a second coat at least will be needed. But that is only to be expected.

Later I finished putting blue on the east side, at least as high as I could reach. I will need to get a work ladder or scaffold of some sort to finish the upper parts of the walls.
And then more scraping and prep work on the front (south) side, with some more white primer. The door will be red.
I might point out that the only good color picture I know of a similar structure in the later paint scheme is this one of Diehl Road, taken by Bob Heinlein and posted on my friend Don Bosan-Bruno's website. We still need a large sign and a gooseneck lamp over the door.
Back in the shop, other Car Dept. projects continued. Tim is seen working on the ceiling of the 1808:
What might look like white paint is actually epoxy, but close enough. And he was also seen preparing the long molding strips for the ceiling.
And Fritz painted up several new windows for the Pennsy tool car:

Moral: there's no limit to what you can do with paint!

Your work on the C A & E Shelter is a good thing. I think i have a memory of seeing it moved from Julie Johnson's property a long time ago.

Thanks, Ted. I'm making plans to work on it over the winter. Fortunately, most of the siding pieces that are really in bad shape are relatively short. It should be possible to cut new pieces to size, paint them in the shop, chop the old ones into kindling, and then nail the new ones in place. Because of the way they overlap, this ought to be pretty easy.
At least, I would like to think this is more realistic than Prince Crossing. :)
Paint work on the shelter is looking great! Is there any plan on where it is going to be placed once finished?
That's another thing you will need to ask Dave Diamond about.
Do you have the flag stop semaphore for the shelter?
