Progress update on CTA 9631

Many thanks to Richard Schauer, who has sent along the latest progress report on CTA trolley bus 9631, which is being repainted by a contractor in Elgin. The contractor has been unusually busy with other rush jobs, so our trolley bus hadn't seen much progress for a few weeks, but that has now changed!

Finally, progress to report.  I had visited the body shop last week and met with the owner.  He said that he had a new body guy starting this week, because the present (high) level of business seems likely to stay.

Also, regardless of the fact that 9631's completion was now almost 2 months behind schedule, they needed the space it was occupying, so it was becoming a much higher priority project.

This week, true to his word, body work had restarted on 9631.  The new guy was finishing up the street side lower rear corner, and there had been work done on the curb side upper rear corner.  The back door was still not completed.  He doesn't expect the upper half work to take long, as it's mostly windows.  The back upper corners are the worst part of it, and one's done already.

Randy, any info on the heavyweight Pullman sleeper that appears to have just been delivered?

Pullman Villa Real was delivered by UP this evening.

Below is a link to some pics of the occasion. I'll get some interior shots in the light of day when I'm out next. Also in this album is the donation flyer with the history.

That's fabulous! Thanks, Tim. This was the acquisition that we've been awaiting for several weeks. It just took a long time to get through Chicago.
