Wednesday Report

Along the new girder rail track, there is some new asphalt where the crosswalk will go.   And drains have been set where the curb will be.  The contractors have completed their work for this year, so today the Volkmann guys loaded up the rest of their equipment and left for projects elsewhere.   Work on the Central Avenue project will continue as time permits.

Lettering on the 24 has started, as seen here.  Buzz did the artwork, and Tim did the spraying.  Metallic gold spray paint is being used to represent gold leaf, and it looks great.

Ed Oslowski continues work inside the Electroliner.  A lot of the interior parts have been stripped down to bare metal and polished.

Lorne Tweed continues to install the new baseboard parts in the Cleveland PCC.

And I spent most of the day working in the vestibule of the 36.   Progress is being made.

So that's about it for today.

Randy, Vestibule of the 24? Did you switch projects? I suspect that is the 36. Bill Wulfert

Sorry. The gold lettering on the 24 just had me mesmerized.

Modern concrete pavers would age better than paver-shaped asphalt in my opinion.

I may be wrong, but I'd swear I saw some genuine granite paver blocks being cleaned outside B&G over the weekend.

Yes, those are genuine granite pavers from Clark Street in Chicago. The plan is to install a small segment , about 20', of granite paving in the gauge and the "devil" strip in front of the Schroeder Store to demonstrate this type of streetcar track paving. Granite pavers were not very practical because of the limited availability in Illinois of the pavers and a rough surface. Mostly, brick was used.
